## What I'd like help with

I watched this video and want to try it. Walk me through it one step at a time, and check the official links below before giving exact commands, since they change.

## In plain English

FL Studio got rebuilt for free, and it opens the beats you already made. LYNX SHARE is free and open source on GitHub, for Windows, Mac and Linux. It's still in alpha, with new versions every few days. What would you make first?

# FL Studio, rebuilt for free

> From Preston (@quickfinesse)
> LYNX SHARE is a free, open source music app built to work like FL Studio, and it opens the .flp projects you already made, including ones the FL Studio trial won't reopen. It runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. Here's what it opens, what it has, and what to know while it's in alpha.

## What I'd like help with

I want to try LYNX SHARE, the free, open source music app at github.com/Ka1-S/LYNX-SHARE that opens FL Studio projects. Ask me which computer I have and which project I want to open, then walk me through it one step at a time.

## The short version

LYNX SHARE is a music app, a DAW, laid out the way FL Studio users already know. It has the Channel Rack, the Piano Roll, the Playlist and the Mixer, with the same shortcuts.

It's free and open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence. It runs on Windows, on Mac (one app for Apple Silicon and Intel) and on Linux, and it's also in the [Microsoft Store](https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NQRFBFDCX6N).

It's made by an independent developer, Ka1-S. It's unofficial and not made by or affiliated with Image-Line, the company behind FL Studio.

See LYNX SHARE on GitHub: https://github.com/Ka1-S/LYNX-SHARE

## Your trial beats, back open

If you made beats on FL Studio's free trial, you've hit this. [Image-Line's own page](https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio/download) says that in trial mode FL Studio won't reopen project files, and once you close it, the project stays locked until you buy an edition.

LYNX SHARE opens .flp files. Your channels, samples, patterns, automation and mixer come across, so you can finish what you started.

## What it has

- **The FL workflow** (pick: Same shortcuts): A step-sequencer Channel Rack, patterns, the Piano Roll, a Playlist with arrangements, and a Mixer with inserts, sends and sidechain.
- **Paid plugins you don't own** (pick: Stand-ins): When a project uses one of 56 well-known plugins you don't have installed, LYNX opens it with its own version instead. Antares Auto-Tune becomes LYNX Tune, and FabFilter Pro-Q becomes Facet EQ. Your settings are kept and come back once you install the real plugin.
- **Your own plugins** (pick: VST3 and CLAP): The VST3 and CLAP plugins you already own load straight into it.
- **Light on your computer** (pick: Their own test): The developer measured it against FL Studio 2026 on the same PC. It used 2.5 to 7 times less memory, and songs rendered 2 to 3 times faster. That's their benchmark, not ours.
- **Work with a friend** (pick: New in 0.1.23): Send a project to a friend as one file, and merge their part back into yours.

## Worth knowing

- **Still in alpha** (pick: Moving fast): Five versions came out between October 27 and November 3, so expect changes, and keep a copy of any project you care about.
- **Linux too** (pick: FL Studio isn't): FL Studio only comes for Windows and macOS. LYNX SHARE ships a Linux build as well.
- **Unofficial** (pick: Not Image-Line): LYNX SHARE isn't made by or affiliated with Image-Line. If you rely on FL Studio for work, keep using it for that.

## Get it

- **Windows, Mac or Linux** (github): An installer or zip for Windows, one app for every Mac, and a Linux AppImage or tar.gz. https://github.com/Ka1-S/LYNX-SHARE/releases/latest
- **Microsoft Store** (windows): Installs and updates through the Store. https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NQRFBFDCX6N
