Recompa puts 250 game ports in one Android app.

Recompa is a free, open source Android launcher for native game ports. It lists over 250 of them, including Breath of the Wild, GTA 4 and Forza Horizon 2, installs each one straight from its developer's GitHub page, checks every file before it installs, and keeps them all updated. You still need your own copy of each game.

The short version

One app for the ports that keep showing up on GitHub.

Recompa is a launcher for native Android game ports. Its catalog on recompa.app lists over 250 ports from more than 20 original consoles and PCs, each with its cover art.

You tap install and it downloads the port from its developer's own GitHub releases, so every port stays the developer's project. Recompa only finds, checks, installs and updates them.

No game files come with it or with any port. Each port needs your own copy of the game.

The three big ports today

What each developer says works right now.

Breath of the Wild

Playable. Playable from the title screen into the open world, with saves, on the POCO F7 Ultra the developer tested.

GTA 4

Plays. It installs, boots and plays the intro, the early story missions, free roam and driving.

Forza Horizon 2

Early. It boots and plays its menus and races. It's still well below the original console's frame rate on phones.

What the app does

Built for phones, handhelds and controllers.

Filters and search

By console. Filter the library by console, like Nintendo 64, Xbox 360 or GameCube, or search for one game.

Updates

All at once. Update every port at once, get told about new versions, or go back to an earlier version if an update breaks something.

Controllers

D-pad first. The whole app runs on a D-pad and shoulder buttons, which makes it a good fit for handhelds like the AYN Thor. It can also be your handheld's home screen.

Reports

No account. Each port's page shows how it runs on other players' devices, and you can rate it yourself without a GitHub account.

Phones

Android 8+. It runs on Android 8.0 or later.

How it checks a download

Before anything installs.

Every port file's SHA-256 hash is checked against the one in the catalog before Recompa hands it to Android's installer. A SHA-256 hash works like a fingerprint for the file, and changing even one byte gives a different one.

It also checks who signed the file. A file that doesn't match, or an update signed by someone else, gets refused.

If you saw the Quiver video

Same idea, built only for Android.

Quiver Launcher does a similar job for PC ports and has an Android build too. Recompa is made only for Android phones and handhelds, with controller navigation, and its catalog has Android builds of Breath of the Wild, GTA 4 and Forza Horizon 2.
